finally.. my baby brent's officially a catholic!
after weeks of rushed planning and all, we were able to pull off my darling baby brent's christening.. i wanted my son's baptism when my brother ryan is here in manila, so when my brother told me that he will be here from december 27 to january 6, i started thinking when will i schedule it.. i called up a few churches to inquire about their baptismal schedules, and i found out that they all conduct mass baptisms every weekends only.. but when i looked at the calendar and saw the saturday & sunday that my brother would be here, i kinda had a little problem, because it was on december 31 and january 1!! i wasn't sure when will i schedule it, there were a lot of things on mind, like if i scheduled it on the 31st of december, will my visitors come considering the fact that it's new year's eve? or if i scheduled it on new year's day, will i still have visitors? or will the restaurant be opened for that day? or would there be a church that have scheduled baptisms on new year’s day? and then i eventually found out that almost all the churches i called up doesn’t have scheduled baptisms on december 31st & january 1st, except for St. Francis of Assisi Parish in shaw blvd., mandaluyong.. good thing i wanted brent’s reception be held in Kamayan Megamall (it was either dad’s or kamayan, but since dad’s was much expensive than kamayan, i chose kamayan.. ahihihi), so the church was perfect! my venues were near each other.. having that in mind, i just confirmed my reservation on the 31st, because i wasn't sure if the restaurant would be open on january 1st.. couple of days before the actual day, i sent out text messages to my invited guests about the time, date & venues (the church & reception).. but after doing so, my uncles (who all have grocery stores as their businesses) asked me if i could move the date to january 1st, because they all can't go on december 31st, because they would all be very busy on that day.. that made me think again, because i just realized that half of my guests won’t be there if i pushed thru on the 31st.. and what’s the use of having an event as such if my family won’t be there?!.. so i had to move the confirmation date, fast! my brother ryan & i went to kamayan megamall first thing the following morning & we talked to the manager if we can move the reservation date.. it was okay with them, so we were relieved! afterwards, i immediately sent text messages again to my guests that we moved the date to january 1st.. everything was set, including the souvenirs which my mom ordered in a rush (as in, 2 days before!), brent’s outfit, my outfit, and everything! my mom kinda scolded me for not telling her about brent’s baptism & the preparations, but i told her that if i said anything about it, she would find out that my brother was coming home and the surprise would be ruined, so i had to do the planning without my mom’s help.. hehehe but everything turned out okay, so i didn’t really worry that much..
on the day of the baptism, january 1st, i woke up early because we had to be at the church earlier than the scheduled time.. the mass baptism starts at 11:00am, but i had to first register brent for baptism.. i would have registered the day before, but according to the person i talked to at the church, they prefer that we will register on the day itself.. so it was fine, but we definitely had to be early! when i woke up, brent also woke up, then i woke everyone else up.. then i told everyone to start getting ready while my mom & i were preparing brent & ourselves as well.. and then my uncle called up & told us that his driver, who was supposed to fetch us & drop us at the church, won’t be able to make it coz he was sick.. shucks! we then decided to take a cab to the church, just my brothers ryan & raffy, my brother’s girlfriend, brent & i, coz not all of us can fit in the cab.. my mom & my other siblings will just follow afterwards.. anyways, i really didn’t need them at the church yet, so it was okay if they were a little late.. so that’s what we did..
when we arrived at the church, i went to the church-office to register and pay the dues.. my friend told me days before that i had to pay for each godparent, not donation or anything, so i had to cut down on the number of brent’s godparents.. anyway, most of them were family & a few friends only, which was fine.. when i came back, we waited for the mass to finish, then it was the baptismal ceremony.. the ceremony was kinda fast, around 30-45 minutes only, coz the priest was continuous.. there were lots of babies to be baptized that day so he had to be! hehehe
after the ceremony, since it was a bit early to go to the restaurant (kamayan megamall was scheduled to open at 12:00noon, so we really were quite early!), we took our time taking some photos at the church.. then we went to the restaurant and continued the celebration for 3, or maybe 4 more hours.. more food, more gifts, more pictures..
brent was tired, so he fell asleep on our way home.. when we reached our house, we all relaxed while brent was asleep, then we opened his gifts when he woke up.. it really was a busy day, but it was successful.. we all had a blast, and i am so proud of my baby brent!!

hay!! it's been really a long while since i've update my journal... i was soooo busy, specially towards the end of december, coz number 1 - my dear brother ryan, who is a US navy based in japan, came home after 8 years.. and number 2 - my baby brent's baptism!!
i have known for weeks that my brother was coming.. everybody knew afterwards, except for my mother.. it was supposed to be a surprise, so okay, we kept it from my mom for weeks! it was difficult to keep a secret from her, coz we think my mom had a sixth sense or something.. she could tell that we were up to something, but she just couldn't put her finger on it! good for us, but kinda crazy for her.. hehehe
anyway, on the day of my brother's arrival, december 27, he called me up from Narita airport that afternoon.. he told me that he was gonna check-in already, and he made sure that we were gonna fetch him at NAIA.. of course we would! (except for my mom! hahaha) i asked for my uncle & aunt to accompany me that evening, and they agreed.. his plane was supposed to land in Manila at 10:10pm, but we didn't know that it was delayed and landed at 10:55pm.. hence, we arrived a bit early at the airport, around past 11:00pm, so we had to wait for 3 more hours for him! he came out at the arrival area around 2:00am already, coz there were so many passengers who arrived that night, so the lines for the immigration & baggage counters were very long.. my aunt told me that it was okay, coz it's usually like that at the airport, it takes a long time for passengers to be cleared by the immigration & claim their luggage.. anyway, i didn't care how long we waited, specially when i already saw my brother! we hugged and i think he cried, but i didn't! hehehe we met up with our aunt & uncle and we headed home.. i sent a text message to my brother raffy, that we were already going home.. we had a little plan, i will let ryan ring the doorbell and wait at the door, and raffy will let our mom open the door for us.. so she will really be surprised!! and a real surprise it was! she cried while hugging my brother so tight, but later on, she was laughing and smiling, woke up my little siblings, minia & jorey.. we told her that we knew ryan was coming, and we've been keeping it from her for weeks.. it was a very touching reunion! i think we all slept very late that night, i mean morning, coz it was 5:00am already! hehehe

This past weekend, my brother, who is a US Navy based in Japan, called me up to tell me a very good news... he's coming home this December!!
We have been waiting for him to come home for, hmmm.. let's see.. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.. oh yeah.. 8 years!! My gosh! It's been a while, and we're so excited to see him! Actually, my mom doesn't know it yet, because my brother wants to surprise her when he comes home. So okay, okay fine I won't tell my mom! Although, I told my siblings so that they know. But I also told them that they must not talk about my brother's homecoming in front of our mom, coz she might get suspicious you know?! My brother will kill me if we killed the surprise! Hehehe
He has been planning to come home for sometime now, but he couldn't get a vacation leave from the US Navy. The schedule of their vacation depends on the schedule when their ship leaves and docks their Navy base in Japan. He planned to come home last July, in time for my mom's birthday, but it was postponed coz their ship was scheduled to leave then. He was so pissed, but he told us that he will try to come home this December, well at least this time it won't be postponed anymore.
I'm twice as excited as my siblings because I told him that, when I gave birth to Brent, I will schedule Brent's baptism when he's here in Manila. I want my brother to be here because first and foremost, he's Brent's godfather. And most importantly, he's my financier! I'm kinda broke right now so I need him to take care of the finances for me, as his baptismal gift for Brent. He's the "major" sponsor anyway. Ahihihihi It's not that bad, right?! Besides, he's Brent's "Uncle Ninong", so he can begin his godfather/uncle duties by providing for us, I mean Brent! Hehehe
He said that he will be here for 10 days. I reacted at first (it's just 10 days!! shucks! wish it was longer..), but then I realized, it's not that bad. At least he's home with us for 10 days. It's better than nothing. He said he'll arrive on December 27 and leave on January 6. So okay, he won't be spending Christmas here but at least he'll spend New Year with us!
But then, I looked at the calender to see when will I schedule Brent's Christening. There is only one Sunday that he'll be here and it will be on New Year's Day! There goes my little problem.. when will I have Brent's baptism?!?! Ninongs & ninangs, any suggestions?! It must be between December 27 and January 6, wherein there will be no work or school yet.
And oh.. where, where, where?!?! I'm thinking either Mount Carmel or Mary the Queen. I'm gonna have to think about it.. and fast! So that I can book the church and reserve the restaurant. Hmmm.. I've got lots to plan, start my guest list, godparents list, canvassing, etc.. I'll post next time for the final details...

This entry is long overdue!!
Last Saturday, I didn't go to work because I've scheduled Brent for his monthly check-up. I already feel guilty that I don't get to bring him every month because of my busy schedule, so I had to bring him that Saturday no matter what!
I also have been planning for months now that I will treat my siblings for a movie. I promised them that we will watch Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire on it's first weekend of showing. As much as I want us to watch on the first day, we can't coz it's a weekday. So weekend it is! I thought of going on Sunday (Nov. 20), but my brother has a school event, a Family Day that we all have to go to, as we have been for the past few years. So I thought that we'll just watch on Saturday (Nov. 19), at least I won't be going to work because of Brent's scheduled check-up. But I also thought that I don't want to watch after Brent's check-up, because the check-up schedules of Brent's pediatrician are only between 3pm to 6pm, so if we will watch after that, the movie theatre will be packed! So I thought that since our hours are free in the morning, why not just watch the movie earlier?! At least if we will watch during the first show of the day, just after the malls are opened, there wouldn't be much people in the movie theatres! And so we did! I told my siblings about my plan. They slept early the night before so that they can wake up early the following morning, around 8am. I think they all woke up early, because when I woke up around 8:30am, they were all dressed up and ready to leave. Haha! They were excited as I was!
But my mom told me that before we leave, we will surprise my brother Raffy and greet & sing him a Happy Birthday. It was his 16th birthday last Friday (Nov. 18) and I bought him a cake. But I went home late that night so he wasn't able to blow it then. It was a nice surprise, and he was touched. It turned out to be perfect, because we had a nice breakfast before we left, the cake! Hehehe
So after the little birthday surprise, we hurried to leave because we were running late, coz we agreed that we will leave the house at 10am, or 5 minutes before. SM Sta. Mesa is just near our home, so we can arrive there in 5 to 10 minutes. Good thing the schedule of the first show was 10:35am, so we were just in time. And another good thing was the movie rating, because it was GP. I thought the movie was PG-13, as it was rated in the US & UK. Lucky for us here in the Philippines, our movie board is not that strict. Hihihi
When we entered the movie theatre, we were so happy. We can sit anywhere we wanted, as there were only few people there. We remembered the time when we watched Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets, because we had to stand up for there were no more empty seats! But this time, it was the exact opposite.. there were lots of empty seats!! We could even lie down if we wanted to. Hahaha! It was definitely a good idea to watch the first show of the day! So we were all happy, satisfied & we enjoyed the movie.
After the movie, we went home to eat our late lunch. Then I rested for a while, then later on I prepared Brent's things. When Brent woke up from his nap, I changed his clothes, then we waited for my mother until she was ready. Then we went to Lourdes Hospital to see his pediatrician. When we arrived there, a lot of babies were already lined up. We had Brent's name listed, then he was weighed. He was 20.7 lbs already! My gosh! No wonder he's so heavy! Then we waited for a while until we were called. He was scheduled for an immunization called H.I.B. When the pedia gave him the vaccine, he didn't cry. He was the only baby there who didn't cry, and we were all surprised! The pedia kept telling Brent he was a brave boy, and he really is! I'm so proud.
The following day, we all had to wake up early, because we have to be in San Beda around 8:30am. But we were kinda late because we waited until all of us were ready, including Brent. We were all required to wear red, coz my brother Jorey's year level was assigned to wear red. So we all did. Brent looked so cute with his red jumper. It was an all-day affair, so my mom prepared packed lunch & snacks for all of us, while I brought 6 bottles for Brent, 4 big ones & 2 small ones (did I mention that Brent is always famished?! oh yeah, I think his is! hehehe) We had a fun day, from the free tastes to the Nickelodeon games to the BINGO social. It was really fun, even for Brent.
I hope this weekend would be as nice as my previous one.. So that inspite of my busy weekday schedule at work, I still can relax on my weekends..

it's been really a while since i last updated my journal.. i hate being soooo busy!! although i know i really don't have a choice.. it's work, and i need to work hard.. i'm the bread winner in our family.. i have my responsibilities: as a mother, daughter and sister.. so i have to work my ass off.. besides, i have a 6-month old son to raise.. and a mother who is depending on me (coz my father is really not a good provider!).. and 2 brothers & 1 sister who are all students (hay! gastos!! promise!)
there are times that i love being the eldest.. sometimes, i don't.. i love it coz i can get away with anything.. but there are times when everyone is dependent on you, and it really sucks! sometimes, nothing's left for you.. and most of the time, they look up to you, to be a role model.. honestly, i don't wanna be a role model for my younger siblings & cousins, coz i'm not a good role model at all.. but still, i have to try my best.. specially now that i have a son, who will definitely look up to me..
hay! brent.. my darling baby brent.. inspite of my super busy schedule.. he makes everything perfect..
by the way, during the recent all saint's day break, i had the mumps! damn! i couldn't hold brent or go near him for a week! i was miserable!! i wanted to cry.. really! but i had to sacrifice being near him coz i don't want him to catch the mumps virus.. i hated that week, i really did.. it was supposed to be a vacation but i ended up sick! tsk tsk tsk..
anyway, i'm ok now.. just recovering actually.. i didn't wanna be sick this week coz we're gonna watch harry potter and the goblet of fire this weekend! we've been waiting all year for that movie! hehehehe

it's been a month since i last updated my journal.. kinda busy with work for the past few weeks y'know! busy with work.. brent.. work again.. then brent again.. most of the time.. brent!! hehehehe
but it's mah day today!!! i'm soooo happy!!
i'm 23!! my gosh! i'm not getting any younger! although i still look young!! harharhar
my day started with text greetings.. from my friends & relatives.. then my brother woke me up before he left for school, just to greet me.. how sweet!
but u know who was the sweetest among my greeters?!?! my baby brent!!
he woke up early, around 7am.. usually, he wakes up when my mom wakes me up, and that's around 9am.. but today, i was early.. bcoz my cellphone was noisy!! not that i'm complaining.. hehe :D so yeah.. i woke up early.. and so did brent!! hahahah
my mom came to greet me.. she was singing, but then brent was also "singing".. he was murmuring, like he was actually singing happy birthday! i was touched!! but when i was waiting for my ride to work, brent puked on me while i was letting him burp.. he just finished 6 ounces of milk.. i haven't even heard him "burp" yet, and then he threw it all up!! hay! anyway, i had to change my clothes again.. and so did brent.. it's not that bad.. maybe brent was trying to tell me that he didn't like my outfit, so he had to puke on me! hahaha
here in the office, my aunt bought me a cake.. i blew the candles, had a few pictures taken, then my officemates & i ate almost all of the cake.. ahihihihi
hay! so far, i had a busy day.. but all in all, my birthday turned out to be great!!
